Comparative evaluation of the spectral-domain optical coherence tomography and microhardness for remineralization of enamel caries lesions

This study aimed to evaluate the Cirrus high-definition (HD) spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) for remineralization of artificial enamel caries and compare it with comparison surface microhardness (SMH) analysis. Artificial lesions were produced on forty human samples. Then, three different agents containing casein phosphopeptide amorphous calcium phosphate; fluoride glycerophosphate, magnesium chloride, xylitol; solution (control) applied pH cycling six days. The depth backscattered light measured using SD-OCT SMH. All significantly efficient in reducing lesion enamels (p1=0.001, p2=0.002, p3=0.006, p4=0.025), increasing SMH (p1?3=0.005, p4=0.017).
